Former national team swimmer

Tonia Valioghli is a former member of Iran’s swimming team before the revolution and record-holder in 100 metres in breaststroke. After the revolution, she was banned from swimming in public due to her gender–Islamic Republic of Iran criminalises women’s swimming in public. Yet, she still persevered to practise this sport.
