Lawyer, political activist
Shirin Ebadi is a human rights activist, university professor, writer, and one of the founders of organisations like the Centre for Human Rights and the Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights. She was the first female judge in Iran. However, she was forced to step down after the revolution (due to a post-revolutionary ban on female judges in Iran). She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for her work in human rights.
